Course syllabus:
30 live hours: 25 teaching hours (Discover 6, Assess 6, Build 8, Launch 5) plus 5 hours of capstone clinics and Q&A. The course starts from no PM background. It helps learners move towards PM roles or use product skills in their current role, and build their own product case. It does not promise a job.
How the 30 hours are used:
- Discover: 6 hours
- Q&A and doubt clearing 1: 1 hour, after Discover
- Assess: 6 hours
- Capstone clinic 1: 1.5 hours, after Assess. Learners bring their business model, competitor work, personas and research notes for feedback.
- Build: 8 hours
- Capstone clinic 2: 1.5 hours, after Build. Learners bring their MVP, PRD and prototype for feedback.
- Launch: 5 hours
- Q&A and doubt clearing 2: 1 hour, at the end of the course
Live hours teach the idea, the manual method and one worked example. Between sessions, learners build their own AI asset and their capstone section from a provided template. Each clinic and session starts with a quick review of that work.
The free demo previews what PMs do, the types of PMs and core PM skills. The first session repeats this overview for 30 minutes, so nobody needs the demo to follow the course.
Discover – 6 hours
- PM role, types of PMs and PM skills (0.5 hours):
What a PM owns, and how the role differs from a product owner, project manager and engineer. A short comparison of consumer, B2B, platform, technical, growth and AI PM roles. Core skills: understanding users, business thinking, prioritisation, communication and working with data. This course focuses on a new product, not growth work.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: PM role and skills prompt file.
Check the output: Check that the comparison describes responsibilities, not fixed job titles or a promise of eligibility for a role.
- Business model basics and B2B vs B2C (2.5 hours):
Who uses, who pays, who decides, and how a business makes money. Build a simple business model canvas. Compare buying and selling in B2B and B2C. Learners introduce their capstone idea within this work.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Business Model project with reusable instructions and a canvas template.
Check the output: Separate known facts from assumptions, and verify market and revenue claims.
- Market and competitor research (3 hours):
Find sources, compare direct competitors and alternatives, identify gaps, and use SWOT as a short summary. Do a manual comparison before using AI.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Competitor Research skill and comparison template.
Check the output: Open the sources behind claims, and check dates, competitor facts and unsupported conclusions.
Assess – 6 hours
- User vs customer vs buyer, and personas (2 hours):
Identify the person using the product, the paying customer and the buying decision-maker. Build user and buyer personas from evidence and label assumptions.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Persona project with evidence notes and a persona template.
Check the output: Compare every claim with interview or research evidence. An AI persona is not a real user.
- User research and the mom test (2 hours):
Choose who to interview, write questions about past behaviour rather than opinions, practise interviews and summarise what was said. AI helps prepare and organise research. It does not replace talking to people.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Interview Guide skill and research-notes project.
Check the output: Remove leading questions, compare summaries with the original notes and find anything invented.
- Jobs-to-be-done and user motivation (1 hour):
Describe the progress a user is trying to make and the situation around it. Use B=MAT briefly to discuss motivation, ability and a prompt for action.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Jobs-to-be-done and motivation prompt file.
Check the output: Check that the job follows from evidence and is not a rewritten feature request.
- Is the problem worth solving? Finding a starting point (1 hour):
Judge how important and frequent the problem is, what the alternatives are and how willing people are to change. Choose a narrow first group and problem (the wedge). Decide what evidence would change the decision.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Problem-check skill or prompt file.
Check the output: Ask for the strongest case against the idea. Challenge assumptions rather than accepting an AI score.
Build – 8 hours
Map the steps users take today, their pain points and the proposed flow. Use the persona and research already prepared.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Journey Map prompt and template in the capstone project.
Check the output: Walk through the journey against real examples and check for missing steps.
- Prioritisation (1.5 hours):
Use RICE and MoSCoW to discuss priorities and trade-offs. Scores help a conversation. They do not decide what is right.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Prioritisation skill and scoring template.
Check the output: Challenge estimates and change one score to see whether the order holds.
- MVP: a small first version worth testing (1.5 hours):
Choose the first user, core problem and smallest useful test. Decide what to include, exclude and learn before building more.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: MVP Scoping project.
Check the output: Check that every included feature supports the first problem or test, and remove extras.
- PRD and user stories (2 hours):
Write a product requirements document with the problem, user, scope, flows, requirements, assumptions and success measures. Break it into user stories and acceptance criteria. Use AI to draft and review, while the PM stays responsible for decisions.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: PRD project and User Story skill.
Check the output: Read as an engineer: find ambiguity, missing edge cases and acceptance criteria that cannot be checked.
- Design basics and AI prototyping lab (2 hours):
Draw simple wireframes, discuss clear flows and basic UX, then create and review a prototype with an AI tool. A prototype communicates and tests an idea. It is not a production-ready product.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Prototype instructions and review checklist in the capstone project.
Check the output: Inspect the screens and flows against the PRD, and note missing behaviour and what the prototype does not prove.
Launch – 5 hours
- Defining metrics (1.5 hours):
Choose a main success measure (L1) and supporting measures (L2). Compare leading signals with lagging outcomes. Define how each metric is measured and what decision it informs.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Metrics skill and measurement template.
Check the output: Check denominators, data availability and whether a measure can be gamed.
- Go-to-market (1.5 hours):
Choose the first audience, a one-line value proposition, the first channel, launch activities and a small launch plan. Positioning is a light part of the value proposition, not a separate topic.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Go-to-market project and launch-plan template.
Check the output: Check that the audience, channel, message and claims match the research and the MVP.
- Stakeholder management (1 hour):
Work with engineering, design, QA and business teams. Explain trade-offs, handle competing requests and practise a short stakeholder update.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Stakeholder Update skill.
Check the output: Check that the update makes decisions, open questions and next steps clear, with no invented commitments.
- Capstone walkthrough (1 hour):
Show the full product case from problem to launch plan and answer questions. The hour is used for selected walkthroughs and common feedback. Individual feedback comes from the two capstone clinics.
Claude asset built or adapted in class: Capstone presentation prompt and case-review checklist.
Check the output: Trace claims and decisions back to evidence, and name the remaining assumptions and honest limits.
Capstone and take-home work
Each learner builds one product idea in a domain they know, phase by phase: business model, user evidence, prototype and launch plan. Regulated-domain rules are not taught as a separate topic. Learners use public, anonymised or permissioned material, not confidential employer or customer data. Reusable instructions are kept as plain text. Claude-specific packaging and setup will differ in other tools.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’S):
1. Who is this course for?
QA and test professionals, scrum masters, product owners, engineers moving towards product roles, and anyone starting out in product management.
2. Do I need product management experience?
No. We start from how a business works and build up.
3. Do I need an AI or coding background?
No. The course focuses on product decisions, AI-assisted work and prototyping. It does not cover training models or building production software.
4. What will I learn?
The whole path of a new product in four phases: Discover, Assess, Build, Launch. For each step you learn how it is done by hand, how to do it with AI, and how to check the result.
5. What will I build?
One product case, built throughout the course: business model, competitor comparison, research notes, personas, user journey, MVP, PRD, user stories, prototype, metrics and launch plan. You also keep reusable AI instructions and templates. The quality of your case depends on completing the work and using real evidence.
6. How are the 30 live hours used?
25 hours teach the four phases: Discover 6, Assess 6, Build 8, Launch 5. The other 5 hours are two capstone clinics (1.5 hours each, after Assess and after Build) and two Q&A sessions (1 hour each, after Discover and at the end).
7. Do I need homework time outside class?
Yes. Live hours teach the idea, the manual method and one example. Between sessions you build your own AI asset and your capstone section from a template. The next session starts with a quick review.
8. Do I need a Claude plan?
Yes. A Claude Pro subscription is a requirement for this course and is bought separately from the course fee. Pro has usage limits and is not unlimited.
9. Can I use ChatGPT or Gemini instead?
The classes and demos use Claude. You keep plain-text instructions that can be adapted to ChatGPT or Gemini, but their features and steps differ. A Claude skill file will not work unchanged in another tool.
10. Will this get me a job?
There is no placement or job guarantee. The course helps you build practical PM skills and a product case you can talk through in interviews. Hiring requirements vary by role and employer.
11. Why a new product (zero to one) and not growth?
The scope is a new product, from problem to launch plan. Growth topics such as retention curves, habits and adoption are outside this course.
12. Why not Porter’s Five Forces, PESTEL or AARRR?
To keep a beginner course focused, these are not separate topics. The course uses the business model canvas, a simple SWOT summary, personas, jobs-to-be-done, prioritisation and basic success metrics instead.
13. Do you teach RICE and MoSCoW?
Yes, as a way to talk through and agree priorities with your team, not as a formula that gives the answer.
14. Will you teach how to build AI products?
The focus is using AI to do product management work, not a course on building or engineering AI products. You learn to check AI output and create a prototype. Model training, RAG, agents and production AI evaluation are not standalone modules.
15. Can I choose any domain for my capstone?
Yes. Pick an idea in an area you know. Domain-specific rules, such as banking or health, are not taught as a topic.
