FAQ

ISTQB certification exams — frequently asked questions

What is the ISTQB certification?

ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) certifications are internationally recognised software testing credentials. The scheme starts with the Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL v4.0) and continues with Advanced Level modules (Test Analyst, Technical Test Analyst, Test Automation Engineering, Test Management), Specialist modules (such as AI Testing, Testing with Generative AI, Performance Testing and Quality in DevOps) and the Expert Level.

Which ISTQB certification should I start with?

Start with CTFL v4.0 (Certified Tester Foundation Level). It covers testing fundamentals, the software development lifecycle, static testing, test techniques, test management and tools, and it is the prerequisite for the Advanced Level and most Specialist exams.

What is the CTFL v4.0 exam format?

According to the ISTQB exam structure tables, CTFL v4.0 has 40 multiple-choice questions worth 1 point each, a 60-minute time limit (75 minutes for non-native speakers), and you need 26 out of 40 (65%) to pass.

What is the pass mark for ISTQB exams?

Most ISTQB exams require 65% of the total points to pass. Advanced Level exams such as CTAL-TA v4.0 and CTAL-TTA v4.0 have 45 questions worth 78 points in total, with 51 points needed to pass.

Are these the real ISTQB exam questions?

No. Every question on this page is practice material prepared by Isha Training Solutions, reworded with new scenarios and mapped to the official syllabus chapters. They help you practise the concepts and question style, but they are not real or leaked exam questions.

Is this ISTQB practice test free?

Yes. All practice tracks and mock exams on this page are free to use. After a few questions we ask for your name, WhatsApp number and email so our team can share upcoming ISTQB and software testing batches.
